Tiger, Taj and Temple Tour

Day 1
Arrival in New Delhi
Upon arrival at the international airport in New Delhi, you will be met by a Tiger Safari India representative. En route to your hotel, our representative will hand over your final documents and vouchers required throughout your itinerary. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 2
New Delhi – Jaipur (260 km/ approx. 5 hours drive)
Early breakfast, and head out for a half day city tour of either the Old Delhi or the Lutyens New Delhi. Old Delhi was founded in 1639, as is also known as the walled city. The Red Fort, Jama Majid, the busy bazaar of Chandni Chowk give you a taste of the Mughal era. New Delhi on the contrary, houses the President’s House, the Parliament, and Humanyun’s Tomb. After lunch, drive to Jaipur. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3
Jaipur
In the morning visit the grand Amber Fort. After lunch, visit the highlights of the Pink City, including the Jantar Mantar observatory, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) the City Palace and Museum, and the bustling bazaars in the historic part of town. Overnight at your hotel in Jaipur.
Day 4
Jaipur – Ranthambore (180 km/ 3 hours drive)
Afer breakfast, our chauffeur will drive you to Ranthambore NP. Check in at the hotel/jungle lodge lodge. Post lunch, head into the forest for an afternoon safari. Ranthambore was the erstwhile hunting ground for the Maharajas of Jaipur, and is nestled among the Aravalli hills. A magnificent fortress and temple lie at the highest point of the park. This park is known for its sizable tiger population. It is full of birds and several other species of animals. Return to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5
Ranthambore National Park
Begin the day early with a morning safari. Apart from tigers and other species like the leopard, black buck, sambar deer and chitals, the huge water bodies are a haven for crocodiles, and an excellent population of birds, both, resident and migratory. Return to the hotel for lunch. Proceed for an afternoon safari to return at sunset to your hotel, dinner and sleep.
Day 6
Ranthambore – Agra (265 km/ 5 hours drive)
After an early morning game drive in Ranthambore NP, return to the hotel for breakfast and then check out to embark on your journey by road to Agra in our chauffeur driven vehicle. Overnight in Agra.
Day 7
Agra – New Delhi
This morning, visit the Taj Mahal, the magnificent monument which is considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world. Built in the mid-1700s, it was conceived by the Mughal emperor Shah Jehan as a monument of love for his wife Mumtaz. Over 20,000 laborers from various parts of the world pooled their skill to create this magnificent mausoleum that has been immortalized in white Makrana marble and embellished precious stones like onyx, amethyst, lapis lazuli, turquoise, jade, crystal and several other semi-precious stones that were brought from as far as Tibet, China and the Indian Ocean. Later in the day, our chauffeur will drive you to New Delhi. On arrival, check into your hotel near the airport. Overnight New Delhi.
Day 8
New Delhi – Raipur – Kanha (flight under 2 hours; drive to Kanha 210 km/ 4 hours)
Board a flight at 0600hrs to arrive Raipur at 0740hrs. Your Tiger Safari India representative will receive you at the exit gate. You will be driven to Kanha NP in our chauffeur driven vehicle. Arrive at the hotel in the afternoon. Have lunch and proceed for a game drive into Kanha National Park. Return after sunset for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9
Kanha National Park
The day is scheduled with a morning and evening safari The park was the inspiration for Kipling’s epic story, The Jungle Book. It is the terrain of this park which encapsulates your heart. Meadows, bamboo thickets, dense woodlands, beautiful water holes with herds of deers, or maybe a Tiger cooling off in water are some sights that will stay with you forever. The denizens of Kanha talk to you if you listen. To listen to the beautiful medley by the birds of Kanha just switch off the ignition in the woodlands and tune-in. Tigers of Kanha are very big in size compared to Tigers of other parks.
Day 10
Kanha National Park
By now you would have fallen in love with Kanha, it’s Tigers and it’s tribes. Continue another day of safaris. The local guides and drivers accompanying, though very well conversant with the forest knowledge, are generally shy by nature, just like Tigers of Kanha. But a gentle prod from you helps them open up and share with you the wonders of this beautiful park. The Baiga tribe has been here from times immemorial. Their contribution in conservation is significant. Duke of Edinburgh also visited this forest few decades back and was captivated after seeing four Tigers in one drive.
Day 11
Kanha – Bandhavgarh (280 km/ 6 hours drive)
Wake up at 05:00 hrs for your early morning game drive into Kanha national park. Upon your return to the lodge, check out and you will be driven to Bandhavgarh National Park. Arrival in Bandhavgarh and transfer directly to your safari lodge. Check in and the rest of the day is at your leisure to rest. Enjoy dinner at your lodge this evening.
Day 12
Bandhavgarh National Park
Wake up early this morning at around 05:00 hrs for your first foray into the forests of Bandhavgarh National Park. Bandhavgarh has deep historic roots. The park is named after the fortress that towers over the jungle. If Kanha Tigers are shy, then you will be surprised by the boldness of Tigers of Bandhavgarh. The Tigresses with their cubs are often seen in Bandhavgarh unlike any other park. Bandhavgarh is known for its incredible tiger density and it is unusual not to spot these felines among its thick Sal and Bamboo groves.
Day 13
Bandhavgarh National Park
Start with an early morning safari into the forest. Early morning is a great time to observe birds and carnivores returning home after a night of hunting. Keep an eye out among the grasses to catch sight of a tiger taking a nap after a meal. Bandhavgarh is full of herbivores and reptiles and there is plenty of activity amid the jungle. Wild boars, sloth bears, porcupines, foxes, primates and several other animals scurry through the undergrowth. Return to your lodge in time for lunch and a leisurely afternoon. Head out into the park again for your evening game drive. Return in time for dinner and relaxed evening thereafter.
Day 14
Bandhavgarh – Khajuraho (280 km/ 6 hours drive)
After an early morning safari, return to the hotel for breakfast. Check out of your lodge with packed Lunch and transfer in your Tiger Safari India chauffeur driven vehicle to Khajuraho. After check-in, enjoy a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage temple complex at Khajuraho. Originally constructed by the Chandela dynasty, they are dedicated to Lord Shiva and are famous for their erotic stone sculptures. The complex consists of three sections – the east, west and south and date back as far as 950 AD. Khajuraho’s temples are very different from any other Hindu temples in India and celebrate the delicacy and sensuality of creativity, love and art. In the evening, visit the Temples again, for the Sound and Light show to see the history of last 1000 years unfold in front of you. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 15
Khajuraho – Varanasi (by air)
Check out after breakfast. Stop once again to visit the southern and eastern group of temples in the Jain tradition. Post lunch continue to the airport to check in for your flight to Varanasi. Upon arrival in Varanasi, a Tiger Safari India representative will meet you and escort you to the hotel for check in. Varanasi (also known as Benaras or Kashi) is the oldest living city in the world! It dates back to 2000 BC and is considered one of the holiest places of pilgrimage for Hindus. The city is situated on the banks of the River Ganges, and several temples, palaces, ashrams and havelis line its ghats along the riverbanks. In the evening, your guide will meet you at your hotel to take you on a fascinating walk through the by-lanes of the old city and along its ghats. You will be moved by the intense spirituality that you will observe as pilgrims and ascetics come to pray and pay homage as they chant hymns and conduct religious rites and rituals to invoke blessings. Varanasi’s ghats are a seething morass of humanity and you will also observe several people conducting their lives right there in front of you. Whether it’s someone selling tea, or a barber or a wrestler practicing his skills, Varanasi is an open book on the intricacies of humanity. Varanasi is specifically sacred for being a holy place where family of the departed soul carry out special rituals and traditions to ensure salvation for the departed soul. Return to your hotel and overnight in Varanasi.
Day 16
Varanasi
This morning your guide will meet you early to take you for a boat ride along the Ganges at dawn. Tranquil and breath-taking, it is an intensely spiritual experience. Many pilgrims come to the ghats early in the morning to sing hymns in praise of the rising sun. As you head back towards your hotel, don’t miss the gold spired of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. You may also pause to visit Benaras Hindu University, which is one of the oldest educational institutions in the world, and has a beautiful collection of Indian art and the textiles for which Varanasi is so famous. After lunch, you will be driven out to Sarnath, where you can visit the place where Buddha delivered his very first sermon. You can visit the Chowkandi and Dhamek stupas, the Tibetan and Mahabodhi Buddhist shrines, and the Sarnath Museum, as well as several ruins dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. Return to Varanasi and overnight at your hotel.
Day 17
Varanasi - New Delhi
Morning at your leisure to unwind and pack. Transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to New Delhi. Upon arrival in New Delhi, a Tiger Safari India representative will meet you at the airport to transfer you to a nearby hotel so that you can rest and freshen up before your international flight. Transfer with a Tiger Safari India representative to the international airport in time for you to check in for your flight and proceed onward on your journey.
