This landmark in Jodhpur is an architectural wonder in itself with its own intricately with its intricately carved façade Mehrangarh Fort: Mehrangarh Fort stands several hundred feet in grandeur on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet over the skyline of Jodhpur. Red sandstone invincible and yet with a strange haunting beauty that beckons. Much has been written concerning the Sun's Citadel, for real, it is one of the most impressive in most Rajasthan. So colossal are the proportions that Rudyard Kipling called it"the work of giants". Nowadays, it's recognised as the living example of a Hindu fortress. Jodha's fortress has been 'Chao Burja' -- a fort by four Bastions. The extremities of the first fortress fall within the limit of the next gate now of Jodha's time itself, hardly any remains, the fort enlarged outside his outer gates within fifty years of his death but the place where this gate burst is called "Rao Jodhaji Ka Falsa" (Jodha's outer limit of this boundary). That the fort is called Chintamani, following the gem worn by Ram which frees worry's proprietor. Chintamani gave way this peacock's flag, to Mordhwaj, presumably since the outer parameter that was forts indicates the fan-like tail of a dancing peacock; it is at some point after this that the title Mehrangarh started to look in poems and contradicted. "Mehr" is a Rajasthani word for the sun, and it is not in any way unlikely that the Suryavanshi Rathores would name their very first citadel within their mythological ancestor's honour.
